Sail Away with Milford Borough’s Music in the Park

Music in the Park Kicks of 2009 Season at Jorgenson’s at the Dimmick Inn

Milford, PA (April 30, 2009)- With the summer season approaching, Milford Borough’s Music in the Park committee is proud to announce that the concert series is alive and well. Plans to present six concerts over the course of the summer series in Memorial Park, also known as the Ann Street Park, are underway with new musicians, fundraisers and initiatives. Their first fundraising event is slated for Sunday, May 17th at Jorgenson’s at the Dimmick Inn at 1:30pm. The historic Dimmick Inn is located at 101 East Harford Street in Milford, PA.

Milford Borough’s Music in the Park will take its fans on a journey throughout its season, beginning with a cocktail reception with hors d'oeuvres, musical guests and a silent auction of goods and services from local businesses. The afternoon will feature the famed regional musicians, Rhett Tyler and Robert Kopec, as well as other special guests. The volunteer committee invites all to attend to help support this year’s concert series. Tickets are $10 per person in advance or $12 at the door and can be purchased at the Milford Music Center or the Dimmick Inn.

“We are pleased to be able to continue the summer series this year,” said Steve Panicucci, Parks and Recreation Committee Chairman. “The committee is dedicated to bringing in quality regional talent to entertain the music lovers in our community. We believe providing quality performances in the park helps to enhance the quality of life in our community. Music always seems to bring people together and Memorial Park offers a perfect setting to enjoy a relaxing afternoon with friends and neighbors.”

The organizers will also be announcing one of their new fundraising initiatives “Sail Away with Music in the Park,” which is a contest that can only be entered by purchasing a raffle ticket available at one of the fundraisers to benefit Music in the Park, and throughout the summer during the musical performances, or at Milford Music Center. At the very last performance of the season, a winner will be selected to win a getaway cruise gift certificate.

Headlining this exciting fundraiser, Rhett Tyler, is a guitarist, songwriter, vocalist, and producer best known regionally for his electrifying brand of progressive blues-rock. Musical aficionados come to hear what John Swenson of Rolling Stones has called “a powerful front man, in the tradition of Johnny Winter and Jimi Hendrix.” Assuaging new and old fans’ musical aspirations, he will perform his energetic solo acoustic style to the fundraiser.

With passion and a knack for improvisation, Robert Kopec will bring his musical talents on the bass to the Jogenson’s at the Dimmick Inn. As a musical guest at last year’s silent auction event, he lends his talents once again, reminding guests of the simple, yet complex and mesmerizing melodies that the acoustic bass bellows out.

Other musical performers will also entertain guests throughout the afternoon of mingling, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

The Music in the Park 2009 committee  is also excited to announce the launch of their newly revised website, www.milfordmusic.net, which will be home to the concert schedule, sponsors and all things Music in the Park.

Now in its fourth year, Milford Borough’s Music in the Park remains a free, community-oriented summer concert series held at Memorial Park, on Fifth and West Catharine Street, on Sunday afternoons. The series is held generally held during the summer months of July and August, and is sponsored by Milford Borough, area businesses and private sponsors.

Don’t miss the opportunity to join the many people in their love for music, as they enjoy a cocktail reception at Jorgenson’s at the Dimmick on Sunday, May 17th at 1:30pm, featuring alluring musicians with the sole purpose of supporting Milford Borough’s Music in the Park.
